Scholarship Information for KU Students

This Web site was designed as a single resource for current and future KU students to find scholarships. Please use the links on the left side of the page to navigate scholarship opportunities from various campus departments as well as scholarships from outside KU.

Incoming Freshmen

All prospective domestic KU students with a 3.25 unweighted GPA may apply for KU scholarships through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships (OAS). Although scholarships are competitive, one in four KU freshmen receives an academic scholarship each year. For your convenience, OAS has combined the application for admission with the scholarship application. In order to be considered for scholarships, be sure to check the box "Consider me for scholarships." If you meet the minimum requirement and your application is complete, your application will be reviewed by the OAS staff. Some departments offer scholarships to new students. Please check www.admissions.ku.edu for a list of departments. If you list one of those majors and you meet their criteria, the Office of Admissions and Scholarships will forward your application to that department.

All prospective international students may also be considered for scholarships. KU offers a few partial scholarships for qualified newly admitted international students. To be considered for a scholarship, you must first be admitted. Eligibility is based on academic records, generally requiring a 3.5 GPA or higher on the 4.0 scale, TOEFL and SAT scores, essays and letters of recommendation. If you qualify to be considered for a scholarship, you will be informed after you have been admitted. Priority deadlines for scholarship consideration are January 15 for Fall semester and October 1 for Spring semester.

Incoming Transfer Students

Current Undergraduate Students

Current KU students may inquire about available scholarships by checking with your academic department. Scholarship requirements, deadlines, and application processes vary from department to department.

Incoming & Continuing Graduate Students

Graduate students may locate funding opportunities through the Graduate School, your academic department, and outside agencies. Funding sources include scholarships, grants, fellowships, and research/teaching assistantships.

KU Scholarship Resources

There are a number of scholarship resources that do not fall into academic departments on campus, such as scholarships for Study Abroad students and students participating in the KU Honors program. These scholarships vary in their qualifications, requirements, and deadlines, so all students are encouraged to pursue the scholarship opportunities with departments that they are associated with.

Outside Scholarship Resources

The scholarships listed here are from agencies outside KU who requested their scholarships be publicized to our students. These scholarships vary in their qualifications, requirements, and deadlines, so all students are encouraged to pursue the scholarship opportunities on the "Outside Scholarship Listing" link to the left. If you do receive a scholarship from any outside agency, please notify the Office of Student Financial Aid.
